This is a very good idea, but it is already being put into play by many other groups, of which the authors seem to be unaware given their citation list. For example, existing resources for their target group include the Climate Resilience Toolkit, the Climate Adaptation Knowledge Exchange, the Adaptation Clearinghouse, and the Adaptation Commons, plus many local portals. There are many NGOs providing the type of support described including Climate Solutions University, Climatewise, Awareness to Action, etc. It has also been demonstrated that expecting local leaders to do this on a volunteer basis is both unlikely and not equitable. This is real work and should provide paying jobs for those that take it on. They are no less community planners than their municipal peers. This leads to usto have some concern about both the model and the budget. Perhaps the creators could collaborate some of the existing infrastructure in this space (see list above) to add geographic coverage without replicating infrastructure.
Furthermore, the challenge of reaching particularly vulnerable populations is not solved well as the project relies heavily on volunteers who necessarily come from communities who have the resources and time to volunteer; given that there is no plan for compensation of volunteers over time we are concerned about both volunteer fatigue and a lack of representation from marginalized groups (which the project explicitly aims to reach).
