FAT CHICKEN and his fowl friends were surrounded by millions and millions of locusts and it was time for lunch!

Description

Summary

Research shows the adult desert locust weighs about 2 grams and about 453 of them make a pound! They consume roughly their own weight of about 2 grams in fresh food every day!

This helps explain why a swarm of locusts the size of one kilometer eats about the same amount of food per day as about 35,000 people, 20 camels, or 6 elephants!

If 453 locusts weighs about (one ) pound, then 906 locusts would weigh about (two) pounds!

A chicken can eat about (two) lbs of locusts per day. This equals out to 906 locusts which provides a food source of almost pure protein to the chicken!

Today or tomorrow . . many countries on Planet Earth are geographically situated in the path of trillions of locusts!

As of today . . 'the powers-that-be' seem to be focused on the idea that spraying IGR aerosols may be the best solution.

I recently read that scientists are concerned that a half-a-million insect species face extinction:  Research indicates that a sharp drop in bird numbers across Europe and the United States has been linked to the collapse of insect populations decimated by pesticide use.

Is this proposal for a practice or a project?

Not sure

What actions do you propose?

Seeking logical alternatives to help neutralize the effects of Climate Change!

I believe that if we will collectively work together using a combination of compassion, innovation, and nature we may provide effective solutions to our Climate Change Dilemma!

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

                                                                           A simple equation;

A man had a small piece of land and four chickens that produced maybe three eggs per week in laying season to help feed his family!

One day in less than one minute locusts devoured everything the man had planted to feed his family!

Eventually, that man was forced to feed his family one chicken at a time!

In the cruel inevitable end the man and the lives of his family depended upon whether someone in a country without locusts would share their food with them!

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

                                                                          A possible solution;

What if governments, countries, philanthropists, or non-profits etc. provided and shipped young chickens, guinea fowl, ducks, geese &/or fertile eggs to these devastated countries to be hatched to become mature and consume at least 2 pounds of (906) locusts a day?

Using proper management skills . . these chickens and their fowl friends could also lay fertile eggs to rapidly reproduce and provide the eggs and meat needed to help sustain their families!

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The crucial objective is to get the chickens on one side of the road and the locusts on the other side of the road!

Some leaders may believe that more may be accomplished if the chickens and their friends run free to forage on their own!

However . . others may believe the situation could be better managed if the chickens and their friends were protected from predators!

I believe if the SEED - STOCK for this proposal is QUICKLY provided to "the soon to be devastated" masses on Planet Earth . . that hard work, human ingenuity , and innovation will be paramount when faced with the possible starvation of their families!

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

            As an example:

About 48 years ago in around 1972 I read an article in a farm magazine about a man whose chickens were protected behind a fence of chicken wire.

It was a year when grasshoppers were hopping everywhere in the fields.

He constructed and then attached a 'catch-all' contraption made of wood scraps and old chicken wire to the front bumper of his old pick-up.

He then trolled his old pick-up slowly in the fields until his catch-all was full and then he parked it in the chicken yard and his chickens feasted all night!

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

In countries without pick-ups and the locusts coming in swarms . . wire or plastic nets could be made where the farmers could tether them to trees &/or pull them in the fields until they were full of locusts. Then pull the locusts inside the protection coops where the chickens and their friends would consume them!

The above examples are just two of many possibilities human ingenuity and innovation will attempt especially when their families are faced with starvation!

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The Bottom Line Here Is :

Someone . . somewhere needs to QUICKLY step forward and help provide these devastated people with the SEED - STOCK . . they desperately need to move this humanitarian proposal forward!

If the 'powers that befail to act  accordingly . . this proposal as a SEED - STOCK . . humanitarian project is a NON - starter!

If the 'powers-that-be' choose inaction . . they will be forced to expand their on-going alternative to vigorously fill up more and more planes with fuel and pesticides and continue in vain to follow those ominous black clouds moving UP and down on the horizon!

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Locust Infestation is operating in a state of flux!

          Sunday, February 16, 2020 . . . Africa!

          Monday, February 17, 2020 . . . China!

          Tuesday, February 18, 2020 . . . South Sudan

Because of the voracious appetites of the locust and their ability to travel up to 95 miles per day creates a state of flux where

factors & variables perpetually overlap and if left unabated may in the inevitable end promote a mass mortality event!

Who will take these actions?

Governments, countries, philanthropists, non-profits, etc . . etc.

Where will these actions be taken?

Hopefully . . actions will be taken before locusts arrive and create infestation and chaos!

In addition, specify the country or countries where these actions will be taken.

Ethiopia

Country 2

Kenya

Country 3

Somalia

Country 4

Tanzania

Country 5

Tanzania

                                                       a state of flux

Timeline

This project should have been started about 48 years ago in 1972 when I read an article in a farm magazine about a man who protected his chickens behind a fence made of chicken wire!

It was a year when grasshoppers were hopping everywhere in the fields.

The man constructed and then attached a 'catch-all' contraption made of wood scraps and old chicken wire to the front bumper of his old pick-up.

He then trolled his old pickup slowly in the fields until his 'catch-all' was full and then he parked it in the chicken yard and his chickens feasted all night!

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Many years ago when I first read the above article, I was focused on acquiring and enjoying more and more excesses of that day . . which pushed aside prudent reasoning to better understand the need for acquiring the essentials of tomorrow!

Many years have passed and today . . our planetary leaders are still declining to be connected . . choosing the indecision of 'business-as-usual' which may eventually cause Planet Earth to inevitably succumb to our vices and superficial reasoning.
