Congratulations! You did a great job and you are now part of the finalist round.

Your proposal is really well developed and has a huge potential to scale up. We appreciated the fact that it reaches to the small businesses and to governance issues. This version improved a lot since the first one and we appreciate the time and effort you've put in it. You made it more clear about how the BEEP program works and how it enables cities and small businesses to understand and reduce their greenhouse gases emissions. It feels like your project is already well developed and will continue to expand in 2017.

It would have been interesting though to have more information about the budget. Since you provide a fairly detailed and concise timeline for 2016-2017, some numbers would have been welcomed in order to match this plan.

All in all, great job, and we wish you best of luck for the finalist round!

Congratulations! Your proposal, ‘’Interactive Business Energy and Emissions Dashboard for Cities’’ in the Smart Zero Carbon City contest, has been selected to advance to the Semi-Finalists round.

As the Finalists selection is coming up, we thought to share with you some comments regarding your proposal, so you can have ideas and things to work on in order to come up to the next step with an even stronger submission.

This a strong proposal presenting a great project already being implemented with what seems to be fantastic results. Dashboards are not new, but having one that is fine-grained enough to catch business activities is and will remain very important. The particular way the BEEP is presented in terms of speciality-time is very convincing too. The targets are clear and realistic.

However, there is not enough explanation of how the underlying data is collected. To provide accurate guidance, that map must first be fed with high quality data. But you do not provide any discussion of your approach to data collection, how you are getting your data? Including a clear discussion of that would greatly strengthen your proposal.

Thank you for your work on this very important issue. Congratulations to be part of the Semi-Finalist round, and keep up the good work for the next step! Don’t hesitate if you have any questions.

All the best,
2016 Climate CoLab Judges

Dear 2016 Climate CoLab Judges,

Thank you very much for your thoughtful comments and for selecting our proposal for the Semi-Finals! We are thrilled to have been selected. We have worked to improve our proposal to address the questions you outlined.

The specific changes we made are:

  • we added "How Business Emissions Data is Collected" section that explains in more detail the source of the data for the BEEP
  • we added "Why Climate Smart Data?" section that explains why we are using Climate Smart data for the dashboard
  • we added "Emissions Reductions Achieved by Climate Smart businesses" section that provides more information on our work with businesses
  • we added a BEEP testimonial under "How BEEP Dashboard Helps Cities" section
  • we included additional subheadings and graphics in the "What actions do you propose" section to make our proposal easier to understand and navigate

Thank you!

The Climate Smart Team
