Finalist Evaluation

Judges'' comments

This proposal brings an important issue to the forefront of the materials conversation - how to engage consumers.

It is a well thought-out and researched idea that looks to make the purchasing of sustainable products fun for consumers. However, it is solely focused on Nike and does not take into account how to engage the wider materials industry around a common understanding of the issues.

Additionally, the labeling is slightly confusing and would require a lot of education for consumers to understand the ratings.

Judges'' comments

Congratulations, you've been selected as a semi-finalist. To further develop your proposal for the finalist judging review, please see a few comments from the semi-finalist judges below.

The apparel industry is already exploring and in some ways is further along than this proposal.

If the creator of this submission could think of an innovative way to communicate this to the consumer in a way that creates competitive advantage that would be intriguing.

As of now the tag is too complicated and detailed in a way the consumer would have trouble understanding.

Who would issue/verify?

It is critical that the proposal expands on potential beyond Nike to other industry partners.

Needs to build timeline for implementation short term, rather than industry engagement long term.

Are costs feasible?
