Instead of compressing CO2 and storing it underground, CO2 can be compressed into Supercritical form and recycled for power generation.
Renewables can be a solution for clean energy, but the use of fossil fuels is also increasing. The world energy demand is expected to increase by 50% by 2030 and renewable energy to make up only ~30%.
Only few power plants has integrated CCS (Carbon Capture & Storage) technology all over the world, because it is a "very expensive process" with no profit at all. but if the CO2 that is captured is used for useful purposes, it can be profitable convincing the power plants to integrate it. That's what this proposal is about.
In in supercritical state, CO2 is proven to be more efficient than steam in many ways. So, by combining these two technologies, we will be able to upgrade an exisiting power plant to be emission less and more efficient (profitable)
This can change the way we use power plants today, CO2 could become the most useful product on burning fossil fuels
Category of the action
Reducing emissions from electric power sector.
What actions do you propose?
Who will take these actions?
Where will these actions be taken?
How much will emissions be reduced or sequestered vs. business as usual levels?
What are other key benefits?
Supercritical CO2 could provide enough energy to the poor societies, along with reducing the impacts on environment.
What are the proposal’s costs?
