Semi-Finalist Evaluation

Judges'' comments

Thank you for your Climate CoLab contest entry. We appreciate your willingness to share your ideas and also the time and effort you put into developing a proposal and submitting it to the Climate CoLab site.

We, the Judges, have strongly considered your proposal and found that it contained intriguing elements; however, we have chosen to not advance it to the next round of competition. Feedback from the Judges, along with our ratings, have been posted to the “Evaluation Results” section of your proposal and sent to you in a separate email.

Comments from the judges:
- This proposal was technically the most novel we came across in the Aviation contest. However the judges struggled to understand some key issues.
- Firstly, the judges disagree that much of the technology is ready for use. The hyperloop, for example, is definitely many years away given that companies are only just beginning to start developing simple prototypes.
- Secondly, the judges struggled to understand why flyers would want to take a hyperloop journey to an offshore airport, fly to another offshore airport and then be transported back by hyperloop? We are struggling to understand the consumer enticement compared to traditional flying.
- Finally, the climate impact of using such a process is not well documented. The hyperloop will likely have high emissions and the judges are unsure as to the fuel production potential from algae.

We encourage you to keep developing your proposal. Transfer it to a Workspace to re-open it, make edits, add collaborators, and even submit it into a future contest. You can do so by logging into your account, opening your proposal, selecting the Admin tab, and clicking “Move proposal.”

We welcome you to stay involved in the Climate CoLab community: support and comment on proposals that have been named Semi-Finalists and Finalists, and even volunteer to join one those teams if you have relevant expertise. During the voting period, you can help select the contest’s Popular Choice Winner. Climate CoLab will be opening more contests throughout the year and you are welcome to submit your proposal to those contests as well.

Keep up the great work. We hope that by working together, we all can create solutions that wouldn’t otherwise be possible.

Sincerely,
Contest Judges

Note: The decisions of the Judges are final. If you have questions, please contact the Climate CoLab staff admin@climatecolab.org.
