Africa's forgotten rice team,

Last day to make refinements to your proposal. Looking forward to reviewing the final version.

Question - there is not much in the proposal about costs. Who would subsidize the action steps - distribution of seed, farmer training, etc.? What are the estimated costs? Is market resistance anticipated?

Good luck.

Excellent idea, have you considered the possibility to develop a list of practices based on the traditional knowledge from farmers and indigneous people in order to give certainty on the treatement of this rice? Cheers.

Thanks for your comment Sergio. As this project aims to preserve and validate the use of traditional rice varieties, it would make sense to also collect and archive the traditional uses and practices of glaberrima. For example, farmers know best under which conditions their rice will thrive (deep water, flood plain, etc). Our project intends to collect this information and have it available for farmers along with the seeds themselves.
