Congratulations! Your submission, BRB-Bike Rack/Bench, has been selected to advance to the Semi-Finalists round of the competition! The presentation of your submission is excellent and the judges appreciate your design’s creativity and practicality. It also appears to be technically feasible.

You now have until March 7th to make revisions and improvements to your proposal. We hope to see you use this time before the final round of judging to clarify design issues that were raised by the contest judges, including:
• How a bicycle is able to lean up against the support bars while being supported at two points on a horizontal plane. The materials should show exact dimensions for the rack and the bike, and show the heights of where the bike can rest against the rack arc.
• How someone seated on the bench can continue using the armrest while a bike is parked at the end of the bench. Arm rests on benches are considered necessary to make them accessible as well as useable, so a bike should not be able to be parked directly against the arm rest.
• How the jolting impact of a person parking his/her bike against the back of the bench might be mitigated to reduce the disruption to someone seated.
• Whether your design could be modified to enable retrofitting existing benches with your bike parking solution.

We are all excited to review the next iteration of your design submission and appreciate your hard work so far! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to the contest fellows through the competition page with any questions or for clarification.

Congratulations and good luck!

In the updated proposal, under 'Design details,' I showed:

1. The design feature of the BRB/Bike Rack/Bench that discourages bicyclists from locking their bicycles to the armrests of the bench.

2. An impact suppressing feature attached to the back of the bench.

3. The ability of the bike rack to support parked bicycles at more than one point.

In addition to the above, I revised the AutoCad drawing to show dimension of end of bench to armrest and inclusion of impact attenuating feature.
