I proposed this same kind of thing already and detailed the plan over here: https://www.climatecolab.org/web/guest/plans/-/plans/contestId/1302903/phaseId/1312305/planId/1324801

The only difference is I wouldn't have MIT Alumni moderate it, I would leave it as intended, a democratically self-sustaining, self-organizing entity or group.

Yes Jacob, open innovation platform with MIT alumni and the local communities is really the way forward for their action plan. Let them put fuel on the local innovations in every country. In this way, they can even measure quantitatively the impact of the alumni across the global.

Let us chat on how to improve the proposal and also dont forget to click the support button!

Thanks

What jaggedallianceproductions say is interesting. MIT Alumni should not moderate it, I think. Because the local expert is an expert. Could someone without a local expertise be moderated by someone without this local expertise?

The part 7 is the most interesting I think, as the capacity of MIT alumni is to connect people... and the solutions most of the time already exist somewhere. I think "to connect local experts and their initiations to rest of the world" should be clarified. I would propose to define 3 steps to connect : initialization - selection - crossover (similar to the genetic selection process).

- How to communicate each concepts and prototypes ? (step 1 - initialization) : It could be small presentations similar to the "PetchaKutcha 20X20". Kind of local meeting using the web to spread ideas.

- How to make sure that people can find in presentations, the similar concept has their situation ? (step 2 - selection) : Find a way to organize the different concept by thematic - social issues - financial resources...

- How to create new link ? (step 3 - crossover) : It can be sort of sponsorship between two alumni in different cities. You should find a way to "force"  local actors that seems different to merge their ideas. This is the best way to create specific and innovative solutions.
