Judge 1:

This proposal is unique in using something developed by others (edX) and adapting it to a new purpose (i.e. allow those interested in careers in green areas to take a curated set of courses supported by a system of mentors). I suggest that ClimateX may wish to grant a Certificate of Completion for a pre-determined set of courses as a credential for students. This must be done in concert with the governance of edX and MITx.

This proposal makes good use of MIT Alumni in the role of mentors and TAs for courses as well as job contact points with employers. Excellent job!

Judge 2:

I applaud the authors of this proposal for doing their homework and finding existing programs that they can build upon. This also gives their proposal credibility, since many aspects of their proposal have been implemented (in many different places). Their proposal is very appealing and constructive, and would greatly benefit students and alums that are interested in working in this area.

The gaping hole in the proposal is identifying who will own this proposal, and how will they motivate the potential contributors to integrate their efforts. At MIT we are much better at launching new initiatives than consolidating existing ones.

Judge 1:

Thank you for this proposal! The Environmental Solutions Initiative (ESI) at MIT will be starting an Environment Action Corps composed mainly of MIT students but this idea is an excellent strategy for using EdX to expand the program. I would like to see this proposal become a reality!

Judge 2:

I like the idea of a one-stop climate shop, but would "tracks" be possible on EdX? What would the incentives/requirements be for becoming a climate trainer? How would they be recruited?
