What actions do you propose?
MIT is uniquely poised to provide the intersection between under-represented female education and corrective climate change technologies. The time to act is now! We propose a three point plan:
1) Community outreach and new departmental programs designed to educate both students and citizens alike in the importance of these two topics.
2) Provide free (or low cost) solar panels to the families of this demographic in an effort to equip these future scientists with the ability to "Lead by Example".
3) Online coursework whose eligibility is primarily comprised of under-represented female children. The topics will range from climate change best practices (see:http://www.unep.org/resourcepanel/Portals/24102/PDFs/PriorityProductsAndMaterials_Report.pdf to teaching practical ways that even those without substantial economic resources can contribute towards our cause.
