Pitch

Simple open source electric bikes and cars can be manufactured using sophisticated open source machines like CNC routers and 3D printers.

Description

Summary

Ideas for an ebike can be seen at facebook page "Electric Motopeds" and a car at facebook page "ZWheelz".  Some articles can be found atwww.ZWheelz.com The idea is that any "guy in a garage" can build 100 cars per year in local communities with inexpensive equipment and materials using a simple process.  Instead of proprietary "throw away" cars being produced in tens of thousands and then shipped around the world, open source communities can start with a basic design and then refine the design for their specific needs.  It would be very modular so that it is customizable and upgradeable. The same equipment is used for rapid prototyping of new ideas and then used for low-volume production.  Material could be sheets of sustainable material like hemp fiber and soy-based resin.  The ebike is using ABS plastic sheets so that the waste material can be recycled into filament for the 3D printer for cosmetic pieces.
