Increase efficiency of electric plants with electrolysis of water.



Electric plants must maintain a even  level of output even though demand is erratic. This the greatest source waste in electrical generation.  When demand is low. The excess generation could be used in electrolysis of water to create hydrogen and oxygen gas.  Hydrogen would be used as an alternative fuel anywhere else, in the plant or even cars. And oxygen could be used to make the current fuel hotter and thus use less.   

A good example is a hydroelectric station. It produce the same output regardless of time of day. But there is little demand from midnight to 6 am. The best way to store that energy, is to create a different form of fuel. Unlike charging a battery, which has to be used soon or loose it. These gases could be stored long periods of time. They are easily transported and eco friendly.  

 Another example is wind energy. Wind turbines produce electricity only when the wind is blowing. But demand does not always match when the wind is blowing. Electrolysis is a way to create a fuel to be used anytime we want.

Electric power stations would add to their plants.  Funded by the new products they would produce. 

Where will these actions be taken?

Any where there is water. Generators could be put anywhere. Along the sea wind turbine can pipe in gases. In the middle of the ocean, a wind farm could create hydrogen gas for ships.  

Any water can be used. Sea water, fresh water, waste water. 

How much will emissions be reduced or sequestered vs. business as usual levels?

When hydrogen is burned it produces pure water.
