Pitch

One Minivan goes with the power of the sun from the North Cape to Cape of Good Hope taking videos & visiting social projects on the way.

Description

Summary

Category of the action

Building efficiency: Physical Action

What actions do you propose?

In order to travel without emmissions we need new ways of energy supply for our vehicles. Electric cars are an aternative to fossil fuel powered cars, but they need heavy, expensive and dirty batteries that have a limited range. We want to build minivans that have their own energy supply on the roofe and are charged with the power of the sun.

To demonstrate that this is possible we will go with a crew of 5 people all the way from the Nort Cape to the Cape of good Hope. On the way we will visit social projects, help them, learn from them and include them into our video blogs.

Who will take these actions?

The initiative Power On has a team of more than 50 volunteers. Out of this team Daniel & Eric will lead the project Cape2Cape and others will help.

We are still looking for a sponsor/partner.

Where will these actions be taken?

The bus will be build in Mecklenburg (North-East Germany) and drive through Europe and Africa.

How much will emissions be reduced or sequestered vs. business as usual levels?

For the approcimated distance of 30.000 km we would save around 3 tons of CO2. However this project is only to show that it is possible. The potential is huge if our method would be implemented in more vehicles.

What are other key benefits?

We will lead a lot of positive attention to our sponsor. Therefore we choose our sponsor/Partner very carefully. We want to support a truly sustainable company.

We will demonstrate that young people from a rural area can change the world.

We will put spotlights on different social initiatives and projects on the way down South.
