Pitch

It is a simple change that everyone can make to reduce a large portion of their use of water daily.

Description

Summary

The proposal is to reduce water usage by turning off the shower after you wet your body and hair, and then while the water is turned off, you can use soap and shampoo on yourself until you are ready to rinse off. Then you could turn the water back on to get the soap and shampoo off of you. This simple change to ones daily routine would make showers more efficient, and this is something that everyone can easily do. There is really no reason to use water the entire time during a shower, and this little change could help save gallons of water a day per household, which adds up if everyone made the change.

Category of the action

Reducing consumption

What actions do you propose?

There would have to be an event or some sort of  environmental campaign that draws attention by the public, and inspires them to make the showering change in their own households. The idea is simple and easy, but it is something that would need to get publicity so that everyone realizes while they shower that they are wasting so much water while they use soap and shampoo or while they shave, and that they could help save our future by turning off the shower to reduce water usage.

Who will take these actions?

Popular environmentalists would need to spread the word about this showering proposal and make it the new norm, and that change could make a huge impact for the better as more people join in conserving water while they shower.

Where will these actions be taken?

The popularity of this idea would need to be gained in public places where speakers can be heard and televised. This would allow the proposal to be spread easily and for free, and if people took swift action, the change could technically occur overnight.

How much will emissions be reduced or sequestered vs. business as usual levels?
