Climate science predicts that we could see as much as 22 meters of sea level rise by the end of the century. We need plan to deal with it.

It is unfornate that we are where are in regards to climate change. The Co2 has reached 400ppm, a level not seen since the Pliocene. At that time sea level was much higher than today. If what the science predicts comes true 10% of the world's population will be displaced by sea level rise.

Category of the action

Mitigation/Adaptation, Changing public attitudes about climate change

What actions do you propose?

Who will take these actions?

Anyone willing to contribute to the project.

Where will these actions be taken?

The solution would first be developed, peer reviewed and submitted to the United Nations for approval. Then member countries would need to sign a treaty agreeing to the terms of the plan.

What are other key benefits?

We will have a plan in advance of a crisis instead of reacting to it afterwords.

What are the proposal’s costs?

The costs should be minimal and similar to other crowd sourcing projects of this nature. Many people will volunteer ideas and do the work of developing the plan for little or no money because it is for the good of everyone. They may also be among the people affected by it.

Time line

It should not take long to develop the plan, perhaps 3-6 months. Getting it peer reviewed and modified could take a while, probably another 3-4 months. Getting it through the United Nations process will take more time maybe a few years.
