Pitch

A wind assisted composting technique that hastens the composting process

Description

Summary

The idea is simple. Accelerate the composting process by harnessing the power of wind.I propose to develop two simple scalable systems for individual and community use.

Compofaster: Its a wind assisted composter that rotates the components of the composter thus accelerating the composting process naturally.

Compost aerator. Its a wind fan connected to a perforated pipe .Wind is driven into the pipe which is heaped upon by waste material..This facilitates a quick composting

Category of the action

Reducing emissions from waste management

What actions do you propose?

Install compofasters in house hold and compost aretors in waste dumpyards

Who will take these actions?

Individuals and Government

Where will these actions be taken?

Compofasters at homes and Compost aerators in disposal yeards

What are other key benefits?

Quick composting yields high turnover of organic manure.

Quick disposal of waster in a productive fashion

How much will emissions be reduced or sequestered vs. business as usual levels?

Emission reduction will be relative to the time reduced for composting and needs to be studies in a real time setting.

What are the proposal’s costs?

300$ to develop prototypes of compofaster and compost  aerator

Time line

1 month to develop and 6 months to study the efficacy of these systems
