I have heard of a similar piezoelectric generator inserted in a soccer ball that charged a batter well enough to recharge a cell phone after an hour or so of street soccer. Perhaps highways are not the only place to get a vibration's worth of electric power. Tides and waves seem to generate some electric power. More interesting to me is the conversation it would generate, especially at the outset. -Why do we have generators on the highway daddy? (passing signs celebrating that fact) -Oh I guess we're putting too much carbon into the atmosphere and we're desperately trying to fix that by using different energy sources.
