Description

Executive summary

Overview of the proposal: what it hopes to achieve, the proposed actions and anticipated outcomes, mechanisms by which the actions can be achieved, what distinguishes this proposal from others.

The proposal hopes to achieve a worldwide collaboration in reducing carbon emissions. Through this proposal we suggest that developed, advanced developing countries and developing countries make contributions in reducing their carbon emissions in accordance to their rate of economic growth and access to advanced energy and mitigation technologies.

According to the proposed scenario, the European Union, which leads the world in the action against climate change, would continue to be the benchmark for others to follow. Keeping in the current resistance of other developed countries towards carbon emissions reduction targets, the proposal envisages that the United States, Canada, Japan and Australia will reduce their carbon emissions by more than 50 percent from 2005 levels.

The advanced developing countries like India, China, South Korea, South Africa and Brazil will cut their carbon emissions in relatively equal proportion as some of these countries are most likely to achieve their economic peaks at various stages in the near future.
